About the Artist
Peter has been using a camera since age 10, when he grabbed an old Kodak Brownie to take pictures of a helicopter that had landed in a nearby field. After hanging around for a couple hours, shooting the copter on ground and the pilot as he wrote a letter while waiting for his passengers, the moment finally came when it took off and Peter scrambled to find the spot to shoot the copter in flight. The pilot saw this and circled around to provide a second opportunity. He was hooked even before seeing the images.
After studying photography at The School of Visual Arts in NYC, Peter followed a different career path, got married, raised a family and owns a custom window treatment business called, "It's Curtains For You". Yet during all those years, a camera was always nearby.
With the emergence of the modern, DSLR camera, Peter is even more obsessed with photography than before and a day without taking a photo is very rare.
When on a shoot, Peter's approach is to search for the unusual, explore the location, mingle with the people and absorb the essence of his subject in order to capture the perfect images.
For a change of pace, Peter, a long time drummer and percussionist can be found out and about Rockland and Orange counties playing with various musicians and at open mic nights and open jams where he provides percussion back up to anyone who wants it.
